What is the difference between the professional model and the portable unit?

Both our professional and portable models function in the same manner.  The major difference is in the design of the tubs and control unit.  The professional model has a stylish molded tub with the control unit built into it for easy use by a practioner in a clinical setting.  An extra array is also provided with the professional model to assist the practioner during back-to-back sessions.   The portable unit utilizes a separate tub and a control unit that is hand-held making it easy to use for an individual or family at home.  Both units utilize state-of-the-art Intelli-Drive technology, 3 power settings, 3 languages (English, Spanish, French) and have a 3-year U.S. supported warranty.

How does the ionSpa work?

The ionSpa ionic footbath produces high concentrations of negative hydrogen ions through the process of electrolysis.  These ions are absorbed into the body by osmosis through the epidermis of the foot.  Once inside the body, negative hydrogen ions act as a high-powered antioxidant and pro-oxidant (in the presence of transitional metals), pH balancer and the catalyst most responsible for ATP (adenosine tri-phosphate) production, our body’s greatest energy resource.

Do you have a water color chart?

You will not find a color chart on our website, nor will one be shipped with any of our units.  The color of the water occurs because of the electrolysis of the plates in the array combined with a breakdown of the salt and minerals in the water, as well as an individual’s contribution.  Water colorization is not an accurate gauge for the benefits of the ionSpa ionic foot bath.  For more information on water color, see our Science page.

How does the ionSpa compare to the cheap units?

There is no comparison!  The $500 or less units are, unfortunately, often non-working ionic footbaths.  Most of the cheap units utilize a 12-volt power supply.  Bohr’s Law of Physics demands you have 13.6 volts across the plates to ionize water.  Even the 24-volt Chinese manufactured units that we have tested don’t deliver 13.6 volts to the arrays in the bath!  In addition, the foreign footbaths may be easier on the pocketbook initially, but the consumable parts that must be replaced periodically are several times more expensive than the same items for the ionSpa (see our Comparison Chart for details!).  You end up paying more over the life of the unit.  At $995, our Personal unit is priced to give you the best value coupled with the ability for us to provide service to you for years to come.  For more information on how we compare, see our Comparison Chart and our Buyers Guide!

How do I obtain Warranty service?

If you encounter a problem with your ionSpa, call us toll-free at 888-836-0019 and ask for technical support.  Our techs can often resolve your problem over the phone without having to return the unit for repair.  If the problem does require the unit being sent to our office for repair, you must obtain a Return Materials Authorization number from technical support prior to shipping the unit.  Unfortunately, we will not accept any returns without an RMA number.  Once received, you can expect a quick turn-around time for the repair of your unit, usually the same day we receive it!

What do I use to disinfect my unit?

The ionSpa recommends using RelyOn disinfectant from DuPont.  RelyOn is “Recommended for use by healthcare professionals, emergency personnel and other commercial establishments concerned with killing germs and controlling the hazards of cross contamination.”  RelyOn is included with every footbath kit purchase, and can be purchased in Our Store.  The use of other products (vinegar, bleach, brand name cleaners) can affect the performance of ionic foot baths.

What is the difference between the ionSpa Personal and the ionSpa Portable units?

The Personal unit is designed for the budget minded user who wants to experience the benefits of a full-powered detox footbath at a price comparable to the cheaply priced imported units. The Portable unit features Intelli-Drive technology, while the Personal unit has multiple power settings. The Portable includes the Deluxe Session Kit which includes enough supplies for the first 100 sessions, a full 2-year warranty and extra sets of array plates. The Personal has the Standard Session Kit, a 2-year warranty and no extra plates. Both units have a full-size tub and include lifetime customer support from the ionSpa team. For additional information on the differences between the two units, please contact us.
